I love technology and artistry

Are you a musician? Are you a writer? An artist maybe? If so, how often do you find yourself in a situation where friends introduce you to other musicians or writers? "oh you play guitar, you should meet so-and-so who is awesome on banjo". I see it all the time, heck I do it too. Some occupations/people rely so heavily on successful networking that your immediate circle of friends do some of that networking for you.
Are you an engineer? accountant? Do you work in manufacturing or construction? How often do you find yourself being matched up to other engineers, accountants, construction workers in these same social scenes? Has anyone ever said "oh you're a civil engineer you should meet so and so who is awesome at calculating loads". I'm going to guess not often. For us in this world of making, building, designing, discovering and tallying we don't have fan clubs of people eagerly awaiting our friend requests. We go to social events and are greeted with silence when we tell someone our occupation, even when meeting others with similar occupations. Why is that?
We too have beautiful art to create. It is through our innovations that your instrument sounded so great in that music hall. Or that ancient tree was still standing there ad-mist development for you to paint. Or how you are able to safely travel from point A to point B to share your artistry.
Our feats are the foundations of such beauty, the enablers of creativity, the preservers of art.
Even so, no, I really don't want to meet your load calculating friend, I'll just stand here silently, knowing my gifts empower yours.
